World
Population Day – July 11
Good morning to all,
Every year July 11th is observed as World
Population day. In 1989, the United Nations Development Programme recommended that
this day should be observed in order to focus attention on the urgency and
importance of population issues. The theme of World Population Day 2016
is 'Investing in teenage girls.'
Teenage girls around the world face enormous challenges. Many
are considered by their communities or parents to be ready for marriage and motherhood. Many are denied of their access to basic information about their health,
human rights and reproductive rights
and leaving them vulnerable to illness, injury and exploitation. These
challenges are increased among marginalized girls, such as members of ethnic
minorities or those living in poverty or remote areas. Yet when teenage
girls are empowered, when they know about their rights and are given the opportunities
to succeed, they become agents of positive change in their communities.
Observance of this day aims to end child marriage, curb
adolescent pregnancy, and to empower girls to make informed choices about their
health and lives. Leaders and communities must focus on and stand up for the
human rights of the most marginalized teenage girls, particularly those who are
poor, out of school, exploited, or subjected to harmful traditional practices,
including child marriage.
Thank you all, have a nice day.
International Day of Yoga 21.06.2016
Good morning to all
The United Nations has declared
June 21st as the International Day of Yoga. India had proposed the idea of establishing the International
Day of Yoga in the UN General Assembly and it was endorsed by 175 member
states. The word “yoga” literally means union. Yoga does
not mean twisting of body, holding of breath or doing some other physical
exercises. It is more than a physical activity and it is in fact a unity
between mind and body. It is a system of raising human ability to perceive, to
enhance individual human beings to realize their ultimate nature. Yoga is the
most profound exploration of the very mechanics of life. It predates all religion and opened the possibility of raising a
human being beyond limitations set by nature. Making the science of Yoga
available in the purest form is the responsibility of this generation. This
science of inner development, well being and liberation is the greatest gift for
future generations.
Thank you all, have a nice day.
